Rules, terms and conditions

The judging panel and criteria

There will be three competition judges - Iain Lovatt, Blue Sheep's Executive Chairman, Mark Roy, Chief Executive, The REaD Group and Shaun Pitman, Head of Data, British Gas Business.

Businesses entering the Blutopia competition will be judged on how they describe their current customer strategy and circumstances, and their ideal future state; and on putting themselves forward for a live case study for the 12 months' duration of the prize.

Announcing the competition winner

The deadline for entries is 31 August 2008. The winner of the 12 month partnering programme will be announced on 22 September.

Judges will cut down entries to a shortlist of three businesses, from which the winner will be chosen. The three short-listed entrants will be invited to a champagne lunch where the team from Blue Sheep will announce the competition winner.

The winner will also be invited to accompany Blue Sheep to the Connect Awards in London on the evening of 22 September 2008.

Competition Terms and Conditions

Competition Entry Criteria

  • Only 1 entry per Company;
  • B2B sector only;
  • Entering business must have an existing database size of more than 25,000 records;
  • Entrant must have a database marketing budget of at least £150,000K per annum;

Prize Details

  • £250,000 worth of direct marketing services and software;
  • Attendance for 1 delegate on one IDM course of the winner's choice, free of charge.
  • One year free business suppression file from The REaD Group
  • 2 seats at the Connect Awards dinner (to be held 22nd September 2008)
    • Provision of the winner's data to Blue Sheep must be delivered 14 days from date of the award being made.
    • Winner will receive 1/3 of the AIM Platform which includes data visualisation, campaign management, standard reporting and analysis.
    • Required to provide a project board comprising board level sponsor, project manager project
    • The prize is valid for a period of 12 months from date of the award being made. In the event that the winner wishes to continue any services after expiry of this period, such services shall be subject to Blue Sheep's standard terms and conditions and fees.
    • The following are not included in the prize:
      • Supply of prospect data;
      • Bespoke reports other than standard from Alterian software;
      • Email broadcast  of more then 1000 per month;
    • The winner shall be expected to honour the following PR commitment;  -
      • Availability of senior representatives from the company to join Blue Sheep for the Connect awards dinner ceremony (further details to be provided nearer the time);
      • Commit to an ongoing case study over the 12 month prize-winning period
      • Acceptance of the award with a speech at the awards dinner;

Other information

  1. The online competition entry form will be available at www.bluesheep.com/blutopia from 1st July 2008 until 17.00 on 29th August 2008.
  2. All entries must have the full cooperation of the entrant's stakeholder team, comprising marketing and IT departments which are critical to ensure a successful customer database project roll-out.
  3. To enter competition, the entrant will be required to answer questions demonstrating the entrants need for a database and marketing services awarded under the prize.
  4. The winner is responsible for ensuring they are eligible to enter the competition and accept the prize in accordance with these terms and conditions.
  5. Completion and submission of an entry form will be deemed acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  6. There is no charge to enter the competition, but entrants should be aware that they may be subject to local call charges depending on their own individual arrangements for Internet access.
  7. By submitting your entry, all eligible entrants agree to abide by these terms and conditions and Blue Sheep shall keep the information in the entry confidential and not pass on any details to a third party other then for the purpose of this competition. 
  8. Blue Sheep reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to exclude any entrant and withhold the prize for violating any of these terms and conditions and their decision shall be final and binding on the entrant.
  9. Those entries which successfully meet the criteria shall be shortlisted and the winner will be the entrant whose entry, in the opinion and sole discretion of the judges (being representatives from the ReaD Group and Blue Sheep), demonstrates the greatest need for a database build. 
  10. All reasonable endeavours will be made to contact the winner within twenty eight (28) days of the closing date. If a winner cannot be contacted, Blue Sheep reserves the right to re-draw another winner from the correct entries which were received before the closing date.
  11. There is no cash or other alternative to the prize stated and the prize is not transferable and no part or parts of the prize may be substituted for other benefits, items or additions.
  12. The winner may be required to submit valid identification before receiving their prize.
  13. Blue Sheep will not be liable, whatsoever, for:
    1. technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind; or
    2. lost or unavailable network connections which may limit or prohibit an eligible entrant's ability to participate in the competition; or
    3. delay or corruption of any data in transit outside of their reasonable control; or
    4. loss, damage or disappointment suffered in entering into this competition (save for death or personal injury caused as a result of Blue Sheep's negligence).
  14. The winner agrees to allow the free use of their name, photographs and company details  for publicity and news purposes during this and future promotions by Blue Sheep.
  15. Blue Sheep reserves the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede the competition (including altering prizes) if, in their sole discretion, a competition is not capable for being conducted as specified. Blue Sheep reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal value in the event that circumstances beyond their control make this unavoidable.
  16. The terms of this competition shall be governed in accordance with English Law.
